Rank Housing Feature Comments
Price – Is price everything to you? Would you gladly sacrifice other housing features for the lowest possible rent?
Location – Are you close to family, friends and work? Are you next to a busy street? Are there neighbourhood amenities nearby?
Size – How much space do you need? It’s nice to have room to roam, extra bedrooms and a storage area, but size comes at a price.
Public Transportation – Living close to a bus stop or skytrain can be a huge benefit and significantly reduce your daily commute.
Parking – Do you drive? Do your regular visitors drive? What type of parking is available for you and your guests?
Features – Are things like a porch and backyard important to you? What about a bathtub, view, or new kitchen appliances?
Amenities – Some buildings may offer amenities such as pools, hot tubs, recreation rooms, and rooftop patios.
Pets – For some, pets are family. If this is the case for you, a “no pets” policy may be a deal-breaker.
Type of Tenancy – Do you prefer the flexibility of a month-to-month agreement, or the stability of a fixed-term agreement?
Type of Housing – What do you prefer? An older heritage house, newly developed condo, or something in between?
Living Arrangement – Are you planning on moving in with roommates? If so, you'll need to find a place that accommodates your needs.
Smoking – Do you smoke or not smoke? Either way, your building's smoking policy could impact you.
Accessibility – If you have mobility issues, you may need to search for a ground level unit or building with an elevator.
